Children travel free with Preston Bus this August

Families can enjoy more affordable days out this summer, with children aged 5 to 15 travelling free on all Preston Bus services throughout August.

Preston Bus is taking part in the UK Government-funded Great British Summer Savings scheme, which aims to help families make the most of the school holidays while reducing the cost of travel, activities and days out.

The free travel offer will be available from 1 August until 31 August across the Preston Bus network, opening up even more opportunities for families to explore Preston and the surrounding area.

There is plenty to discover by bus. Families could visit The Harris and its library, catch the latest family film at The Arc Cinema at Animate, enjoy some fresh air at Avenham and Miller Parks or Moor Park, or head towards Preston Docks and the Ribble Steam Railway. Whether it is a day at a local attraction, a family meal, a shopping trip or simply a kickabout in the park, travelling by bus will be one less cost to worry about.

The wider Great British Summer Savings scheme also includes discounts at participating restaurants, cinemas, visitor attractions and other family venues.

Who can travel for free?

All children aged 5 to 15 inclusive can travel free on Preston Bus services during the offer period.

Children under five already travel free across the Preston Bus network. Young people aged 16 to 18 will continue to pay the normal U19 fare.

Where a driver cannot be certain that a passenger is under 16, the passenger may be asked to provide proof of age. We therefore recommend that older children carry suitable identification when travelling.
