Accessibility on our buses

At Preston Bus, we are committed to providing accessible travel. We want to make it as easy as possible for everybody to get on and off the bus, have a comfortable journey and feel confident about using our services for their day to day needs.

Easy Access

  • All our buses are low floor access, making it easier to board for those who have mobility issues or are boarding with a pushchair/buggy or mobility vehicles.
  • All our buses have a priority seating area for the elderly, those with a disability or who are less able to stand.

Wheelchair Access

  • All our buses are wheelchair accessible.
  • All our buses have an access ramp at the entrance, if you require the ramp to be lowered when you board or alight the bus, please ask your driver for assistance.
  • All of our buses have a dedicated wheelchair space.
  • Wheelchairs must be positioned with the brakes on and with the back of the chair against the backrest, aisles and gangways must be kept clear at all times.

Mobility Scooter Access

  • Class 2 scooters may be taken onto public transport, Class 3 can not.
  • Class 2 scooters are lightweight and designed for use on pavements.
  • Class 3 scooters are classified as road going vehicles; they are bigger and heavier, and not suitable for bus travel.

Other Restrictions also include:

  • Scooters must be no wider than 600mm and 1000mm long.
  • Scooters must have a turning circles no bigger than 1200mm.
  • 300kg is the maximum safe working load of the ramp used to board the bus, so the combined weight of the mobility scooter and the rider must not exceed this.

If the space on the vehicle is already taken then the driver may not let you board due to their being no room
