£1 Fare Cap Scheme 13/04/2026

At Preston Bus, we have been proud to support the £1 fare cap scheme and the benefits it has brought to our customers and the wider community working in partnership with Lancashire County Council.

However, we regret that we will be withdrawing from the scheme from 27 April 2026.

While we recognise the positive impact the scheme has had, the level of reimbursement provided in 2025 has not carried through into 2026 . As operating costs continue to rise, this has made it increasingly difficult for us to sustainably remain within the scheme.

This change will apply only to our commercial services:

(Please note that some journeys on these services are tendered services and will continue to accept the £1 fare cap.)
