Preston Bus is working with Preston City Council and the Lancashire County Council to introduce in stages a network of Quality Bus Services. The first route introduced in Lancashire was the 33/35 services to Tanterton. The first parts of the project to improve the 22/23 services to ASDA/Sherwood followed in 2001. Improvements to the 19 service Royal Preston Hospital via Deepdale Road were part of the third scheme. These have been followed by the Gamull Lane service 11, the Preston Orbit 88A & 88C services and then the 16 Farringdon Park service. The benefits of the improved service include:- S New Buses - Preston Bus will be introducing their brand new low floor double deck vehicles on selected services around Preston. These vehicles will be in new livery, branded 'super route' and operate on a very frequent basis. S Low Floors - These new buses ' kneel' at the stops to enable everybody to board more easily and these are no steps in the front portion. S Easy Access for Parents with Prams - No need to get the kids out of their prams before you board ... just wheel them onto their special area on the bus. S Easy Access for People in Wheelchairs - Again, just wheel your chair onto the bus where an area is reserved for you to travel in your wheelchair. S Easy Access for Everyone - No more steps to worry about, just walk straight on. S More Efficient Services - New traffic management measures have been introduced to ensure the buses get through traffic signals with the minimum delay. S New Bus Stops - New highly visible paved raised boarding platforms along with higher kerbs and lower bus steps means near level access. S New Bus Shelters - New or refurbished bus shelters have been provided. All have seating and lighting installed for your added comfort. S Better Timetable Information - Clear, all-colour travel information has been provided at all stops to help plan your journey. It will even tell you the cost of your trip. |
